Contact Segmentation in Event Hawk

Contact Segmentation in Event Hawk!

Welcome to this guide on segmenting your contacts using tags and creating smart lists to target your audience more effectively. Whether you’re looking to refine your communication strategies or simply enhance how you engage with your customer base, this method will make it easier to organize and connect with the right people at the right time. By tagging your customers based on factors such as location, event type, or repeat business, you can gain deeper insights into your customer behaviors, ensuring your marketing efforts are not just broad but truly impactful. Let’s dive into the process of tagging your customers and creating powerful smart lists that will take your customer segmentation to the next level.

Step #1: Log in to app.eventhawk360.com on the Desktop version.

Step #2: On the left hand side click on the “Contacts” tab

Step #3: Have an idea of what you would like the TAGS to be for your customers. Examples of customer tags you can give are: a Location tag, ie: what city they rented. Other tag ideas are the TYPE of event was it, was it a birthday party? Tag the customer “Birthday” or “Backyard”. Other tags can be a VIP tag that you give to any customer who has rented from you more than 2 times. Other tag ideas are the MONTH that the customer rented in, like a “July” tag to any rental that rented in July, this way next May you can reach out to all those July people and remarket them!

(The TAGS are the best way to segment your customers because you can give every single customer as many tags as you want and you can give the same tag to multiple customers, then we turn those tags into smart list and you can then advertise directly to a group of customers within your account via the tags and smart lists)

Step #4: Click on any customers name, that will lead you into that specific customers contact, and once in their contact on the left hand side on their contact scroll down all the way until you get to “Tags” and expand the view to see any existing tags.

Step #5: Under the word “Tags” there is a white bar that says “Add Tags” . To start adding a new tag, start typing where it says “Add Tags” and once you type for example “July” it will say a little button below it will say “+ July” and that will add the “July” tag to that customers contact.

Step #6: Add the next tag to the customer repeat Step #5 above. You can add as many tags as you would like to any customer. The more tags you add the more of the “story” of that customer can be told and the more you know about that customer and that event.

Step #7: Go back to the main part of the “Contacts” tab on the left hand side, we are going to now create our Smart Lists” to segment the customers.

Step #8: On the far right hand side of the screen there is a button that says “More Filters” click that and then scroll down and click on “Tag”

Step #9: Where it says “Is” below that you can start typing lets say for example we are making the smart list for customers who rented in July and we have already tagged all the customers who rented in that month with the “July” tag, then we would type “July” in that space and click the “July” tag below. We then click “Apply” in the bottom right corner

Step#10: Click “Save as Smart List” at the bottom right corner of the screen, it will then prompt you to name the smart list, name it whatever you named the Tag. So for this example I will be naming it “July Rentals”, you then click “save”. It will then lead you automatically lead you into your smart list.

(It is called a smart list because the more people you give the “July” tag to the more that list grows)

Step #11: To make a NEW smart list you must toggle from the current list you are in, to the “ALL” list. You can see the new Smart List you made near the top the screen Below the words “Smart List” you will see your new “July Rentals” list and the “ALL” list. Click on the “ALL” list and you will be back to seeing all you contacts.

Step #12: Repeat Steps #8 – #10 to create another smart list.
