SEO FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from party rental clients. Bookmark this page and share it with anyone on your team who works with us.

Section 1: Timing and results

Why do you do SEO in the off-season?

Two reasons. First, October through March is when Google indexes new pages fastest because search volume is lower and there’s less noise for the algorithm to sort through. Any technical work, landing page, or content refresh has more time to compound before peak season hits. Second, we don’t want to be making major changes while your phones are ringing in April. Off-season is when we do the heavy lifting so your site is fully optimized before booking season starts.

When will I start seeing results?

Google Business Profile changes: 2 to 4 weeks. Meta title and description tweaks: 4 to 6 weeks. New landing pages and content: 60 to 90 days for meaningful ranking gains. AI Overview and ChatGPT citations: 60 to 120 days. SEO is a compounding investment, not an instant switch.

What kind of results should I expect?

For a party rental business running a full off-season campaign: 20% to 60% increase in organic clicks year over year, average position climbing from double digits into the top 10 for core keywords, and a fuller Google Business Profile that shows up in more Local Pack results. Exact numbers depend on your starting point and how competitive your market is.

Why do results take time?

Google has to crawl your changes, index them, decide how much to trust them, then test them in front of real users. Every step takes days to weeks. New sites take longer because Google has less history to trust. This is why SEO compounds. The work you did in November keeps paying off in April.

Do results stick around after the campaign ends?

Mostly, yes. Landing pages you build stay live. Schema markup keeps working. GBP optimizations don’t reset. What you lose without ongoing work: rank monitoring, sprint execution against emerging competitors, and fresh content signals that Google looks for on the sites it favors most.

Section 2: Rankings and visibility

Will I show up when someone searches “[specific phrase]”?

Only if we’ve built for that exact phrase and Google has decided your site is a good match. The best way to know is to pull your Google Search Console report or send us the query and we’ll check ranking, click-through rate, and impression volume. Some phrases have almost no search volume in your city; others are dominated by big national players. We’ll tell you which is which.

Why am I ranking lower than my competitor?

Usually one of these: (1) they’ve been in business longer and have more Google Business Profile reviews, (2) they have more landing pages targeting more cities, (3) their website loads faster or has cleaner technical setup, (4) they’re actively getting mentioned on other sites. Ranking is a lagging output of dozens of signals, not a single lever.

What does “average position” mean on my report?

Your average rank across every query your site appears for. If your top query ranks position 2 and your bottom query ranks position 47, your average position is somewhere between. We look at avg position per keyword, not just the site-wide number, when planning what to optimize next.

Can you guarantee page 1 rankings?

No, and neither can any honest SEO agency. Anyone who guarantees rankings is either lying or planning to target zero-competition keywords that nobody actually searches. What we can guarantee is that the work we ship is the work that has the highest probability of moving you into the top 10 for the queries that actually convert.

Why do rankings fluctuate week to week?

Google runs algorithm updates constantly, competitor sites publish new content, seasonal search behavior shifts, and the specific results shown vary by device, location, and user history. Small weekly wobbles are normal. What matters is the trend line over 4 to 12 weeks.

Section 3: AI search

What is AI SEO?

The work of making your website citable by AI assistants. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, or the AI Overview at the top of Google “best bounce house rental in [city]”, we want your business to be the one it recommends. Different from classic SEO but overlaps with it.

Will ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews find me?

Only if your site is technically citable (AI crawlers can access it, content is readable in the static HTML, schema is in place) and if your brand is mentioned enough across trusted third-party sites for the AI to consider you an authority. Both parts matter. Foundation without brand mentions won’t get you cited. Brand mentions without foundation won’t either.

Do I need to worry about AI killing my Google traffic?

For pure informational searches (“how much does a bounce house rental cost”), yes, AI Overviews are absorbing some clicks that used to go to websites. For local commercial searches (“bounce house rental Dallas”), the AI answer usually just wraps the same Local Pack you were competing in already. Your GBP still gets the click.

Section 4: Google Business Profile

Why is Google Business Profile so important?

For a local service business, it’s the single biggest ranking factor. Google decides who shows up in the Local Pack (the map with 3 businesses) based mostly on your GBP: proximity, reviews, category accuracy, description quality, photos, and posts. A great GBP with a mediocre website often beats a great website with a mediocre GBP.

Why did my star rating not change?

Google averages your reviews over the full lifetime of your profile. If you have 200 reviews at 4.8 stars, one new 5-star review only nudges the average slightly. The way to move your star rating is either time (accumulate 50+ new reviews) or asking every happy customer for one.

Should I ask customers for reviews?

Yes, always. The single fastest way to lift local rankings. Send a text within 24 hours of the event with a direct link to your Google review form. Aim for 5 to 15 new reviews per month during peak season. We can set up the review request automation for you if you’re on the Pro Package or higher.

Section 5: Content and work we do

Why don’t you write more blogs for me?

For party rental businesses, search intent is almost entirely transactional. People are searching to book, not to read. Blogging works great for lawyers or B2B software companies, but for a bounce house rental company, one great city landing page will outperform 20 blog posts on booking budget or party themes. We may write one or two seasonal posts a year for topical freshness signals, but a blog-first strategy would waste your budget.

Why should I care about landing pages for cities I don’t have offices in?

Because you deliver there. Google ranks based on physical presence AND service area. A city landing page tells Google “we deliver to Frisco” and gives you a real page to compete for “bounce house rental Frisco” against local competitors. Without a page, Google has no reason to show your homepage for that specific search.

Can I approve everything before it goes live?

You approve the sprint plan at the start. Individual technical fixes (alt text, schema, meta tags, robots.txt) we ship without pre-approval because they have zero customer-facing risk. New landing pages and content rewrites get sent to you as drafts before publishing.

What is a sprint?

A focused package of work targeting one area of your site with a clear outcome. Landing Pages sprint builds 12 city pages. Technical SEO sprint fixes crawl errors and speed. Schema sprint deploys structured data. Each sprint takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on scope.

What about page speed?

Handled by our Website department, not the SEO team. If your site is slow, we flag it and route it there. A One-Time Speed Fix is available as a standalone product for $499. Some platforms (ERS in particular) limit how much we can improve speed at all.

Section 6: Payment, scope, and practicals

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. No long-term contracts on the Pro, Boss, or Elite plans. Just give us notice and we’ll wrap up any in-flight sprint work cleanly.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

No, and here’s why. SEO results build over months. If we refunded after 30 days, we’d have to work exclusively on quick-hit tricks that don’t actually build long-term rankings. We prefer to be transparent about what we’re doing and let the results speak.

How does off-season SEO help peak season?

Everything we ship October through March compounds by April. New landing pages get indexed and start ranking during the slow months, so when peak search volume hits in spring, you’re already visible. Sites that skip off-season work spend all of April fighting to catch up.

What if I move markets or add a service?

Just tell us. New city, new product line, or a service radius change becomes the input for the next sprint. We’ll build the pages and update GBP to match.

Do you handle Google Ads or Meta Ads too?

Yes, but as a separate service (included in the Pro Package). SEO and paid ads work together but are managed by different specialists. Your dashboard focuses on SEO; ads have their own reporting.

How is Event Hawk different from other SEO agencies?

We only work with party rental businesses. Everything from our sprint templates to our GBP optimization playbook is tuned for how bookings actually happen in this niche. Generic agencies charge more, work slower, and treat you like an anonymous account.

Why not just buy Google Ads instead?

Google Ads is faster to switch on but stops the moment you stop paying. SEO takes longer to build but keeps working for months and years after the campaign ends. Most Pro clients run both. Ads for immediate volume, SEO for durable pipeline.
