How to Verify Google & Facebook Ads Tracking
Want to check if your Google or Meta ads results are accurate? Not sure if the numbers match your real sales? Here’s a simple breakdown of how it all works and how to fix it.
Simple Breakdown
First, you need to understand that you are working with 3 different systems:
- Event Hawk: installs tracking code so your website, booking software, and ads can talk to each other
- Booking Software (IO, ERS, BCN, etc): records your real bookings and sends that data to Google Ads and Meta Ads
- Meta Ads / Google Ads: uses that data (plus their own tracking) to report results, which can sometimes be higher than actual sales
Why Numbers Don’t Match
Sometimes your ads show more sales than you actually have.
This can happen because:
- Ads may count the same sale more than once
- Ads may count people who saw your ad but didn’t click
- Data can be sent more than once from your booking system
How to Check If Your Tracking Is Correct
Step 1: Contact Event Hawk
- We will check that your tracking is installed correctly
- In most cases, everything will already be set up properly
Step 2: If tracking is correct → Contact your booking software
- They control your real sales data
- They control what gets sent to Google and Meta
- This is usually where the issue is
Message You Can Send to Your Booking Software
Hi,
Our Google/Meta Ads are showing more sales than we actually have.
Can you please check:
- If duplicate sales are being sent
- If revenue is being sent correctly
- If anything could be causing inflated reporting
Here are some examples:
- On this day, it shows a sale for $____, but I do not have a sale in my system
- I also checked a few days before and after, and still do not see this sale
Event Hawk has already confirmed tracking is installed correctly.
Thank you
